Donald E. Mair is a Deltona resident, husband, father, retired tradesman, civic advocate, and founder of Deltona Citizens United, Inc. After the loss of his daughter Gabby, Donald became involved in public advocacy for student safety and was publicly recognized for his work connected to “Gabby’s Law,” a Florida student-safety measure.
He later continued civic advocacy in child-protection issues and local government transparency. Donald founded DCU to promote nonpartisan civic participation, community service, local history preservation, and a stronger Deltona community. He has openly acknowledged past mistakes from his youth and believes accountability, transparency, and service are essential to earning public trust.

Deltona-Florida's Bright Spot!
Our vision is to assist our City in becoming the safest and friendliest city in Florida through active community engagement. We believe our community is truly better when we work together. By removing political division and collaborating as Deltona Citizens United, rather than identifying as Republican or Democrat, we can achieve our shared goals alongside other Florida civic organizations.
At Deltona Citizens United, we prioritize community by using an educational and rational approach to civic participation. DCU recognizes that every resident of Deltona has the same fundamental needs in life, such as a safe community and a clean environment. By fostering collaboration and removing political divisions, we can effectively work together as a united team, much like other Florida civic organizations.
Over the years, we have witnessed Deltona growing rapidly with little forethought or real planning. Historic buildings have been demolished, and our history is slowly being erased. By joining Deltona Citizens United and participating in our events, you can help ensure our voices are heard loud and clear. Together we can restore ethics in our city government. We can ensure they truly represent us by voting the way we want and not the way developers want them to.

Our slice of Volusia County on the north banks of Lake Monroe holds a unique and interesting history that fosters community engagement. This rich history has more that unites us than could divide us, and it is essential to organizations like Deltona Citizens United and other Florida civic organizations. It is a history that should be preserved and shared, serving as the cornerstone of our community pride.
